We are announcing a student competition for the best GGS study/paper award. The competition is intended for students of the Faculty of Social Studies of Masaryk University (FSS MU) at all levels of study.
This competition aims at symbolically and financially rewarding outstanding research and publication achievements, which are based on data from the Generations and Gender Survey (GGS). Our department is a national coordinator of this unique, internationally harmonized large-scale panel study, which strongly contributes to global excellence in family sociology. In addition to works using Czech data, we also welcome works with comparative data and the latest available GGS data (second round of the survey, GGS-II).
The competition is based on students’ self-nominations. Any student enrolled at FSS may nominate a published or unpublished research paper as long as the paper utilizes data from the Generations and Gender Survey. Nominations should be sent to ggp@fss.muni.cz no later than May 6, 2025. The results of the competition will be announced by May 20, 2025.
Nominations should include the paper/manuscript. If a manuscript is nominated, a confirmation of submission from the editorial office of a professional sociology/demography journal should be attached as well. Manuscripts must conform to the usual publication guidelines (see webpages of Sociologický časopis or Demografie, for instance).
All authors of the nominated text must be students at FSS MU at the time of nomination. Access to GGS data can be obtained at http://www.ggp-i.org/data/. Documentation for Czech data can be found here: https://munispace.muni.cz/library/catalog/book/2262.
Up to two papers may be chosen for the award.
